Welcome to the Matrix FMS demoYou're signed in as Inspector Alex Morgan, a System Owner. Book on, create a CAD incident, run a PNC check or change anything in Admin. Everything resets overnight.

Guide

How to use the MxFMS FMS. It only covers what you have access to.

Getting started

Your first day

Sign in with Discord. Once you're whitelisted you can use everything your roles allow; the menus only show what you have access to.

  • Home shows things for you to do (policies to read, unread mail), news and who's on duty.
  • Your profile (your name, top right) shows your services, rank, qualifications and duty time. Ask for a roleplay name change from there.
  • Notifications (the bell) collect anything that needs you: decisions, mail, training and so on.
  • Read the Rules and any Policies you're asked to acknowledge.

Mail

Everyone whitelisted gets an FMS mail address made from their roleplay name and the community's name, like [email protected]. Service Command also get one for each of their services.

  • Mail only works inside the FMS: it can't send to or receive from real email.
  • Send to a mail address, a shoulder number or a Discord username. Separate several with commas.
  • If you have more than one address, pick which one it comes From when you write.

Asking for leave

Going away? Ask your service command for leave so they know.

  1. Open Duty → Leave.
  2. Pick the first and last day (and the service, if you're in more than one) and give a reason.
  3. Command approve or decline it, and you get a notification.

While approved leave covers today you show as On leave on your profile and in the members lists. You can cancel leave, or end it early once it's started.

On duty

Booking on and off

Book on to appear on the CAD with a callsign.

  • In the FMS: Duty → Duty, or the MDT.
  • In game: open the MDT tablet (/mdt or F6) and book on there.

Book off the same way. If you leave the game server while on duty, you keep your callsign for 30 minutes: come back in game or use the website within that time and your shift carries on. After that you're booked off automatically.

The MDT

The MDT is the officer's screen: your unit, your CADs, the PNC and crime reports.

  • In game: press F6 (or type /mdt) to open the tablet. Drag its top bar to move it and the corner to resize it; /mdtreset puts it back.
  • Status buttons set your unit's status (on patrol, en route, at scene and so on). Control sees it straight away.
  • Emergency raises a panic: control and every unit on duty hear the alarm, and a CAD opens at your location.
  • Open CADs and CAD List (also in the Duty menu) show what's open now and every CAD before, so you can go back and check one.

The CAD (control)

The CAD shows every unit and every open CAD for your services.

  • Create CAD opens a new incident. Click a CAD to open it; the X in its corner closes it on your screen (it stays open).
  • Attach a unit by dragging its callsign onto a CAD, or with the Attach button.
  • Open CADs and CAD list in the top bar show what's open, and every CAD with search.
  • Clear CAD (control only) closes every open CAD and books every unit off. Use it at the end of a session.
  • Theme switches light or dark and the layout (compact, classic or tabbed).

The PNC

The PNC holds people and vehicles for roleplay.

  • PNC → Search finds a person or vehicle by name or plate. In game, /pnc <plate> checks a plate.
  • My Civilians are the characters you play as a civilian.
  • My Records are the arrests, fines and warnings you've added.

Every search is recorded, so only search for a reason.

Crime reports, records and POLCOL

  • Crime Reports are for investigations: add the people, evidence and updates as it goes.
  • Records list custody, fines and warnings.
  • POLCOL is for police collisions.

All three are in the Duty menu.

In-game commands

  • /mdt or F6: open the MDT tablet (book on and off here)
  • /panic: emergency at your location
  • /999 <what's happening>: a civilian 999 call to the CAD
  • /pnc <plate>: PNC vehicle check
  • /fleet, /eup, /loadout, /spawnselect: vehicles, uniforms, loadouts and spawn points you're allowed

Getting on

Careers, training and forms

  • Careers lists open roles. Apply there and follow your application under Careers → My applications.
  • Training shows upcoming sessions and the qualifications you hold.
  • Forms are for everything else your community asks you to fill in.

Getting help

Stuck, or something isn't working? Open Help → Support to raise a ticket with staff. Dev Logs show what's new in each update.

For service command

Managing your members

Service Command → Members lists everyone in your service.

  • Use the pencil to change a member's rank, divisions, callsign and status. You can only change members below your own rank.
  • Add member puts a whitelisted member into your service by shoulder number. Set their rank next.
  • Rank changes update their Discord roles and nickname on their own.

Leave requests

Service Command → Leave Requests shows leave waiting for a decision (with a count in the menu), who is on leave now, and what's coming up.

Approve or decline with an optional note. The member is told, and you can't decide your own leave.

Recruitment, misconduct and notices

  • Recruitment is where you review career applications for your service.
  • Misconduct records cases against members of your service.
  • Noticeboard posts notices to your service, shown on their Home page.
  • Commendations award recognition that appears on a member's profile.

For admins

Setting up your FMS

A sensible order for a new FMS:

  1. Admin → Appearance: your community's name, logo and colours.
  2. Admin → Services: the services you run (police, ambulance, fire come set up; change them freely).
  3. Admin → Ranks and Divisions: pick the service, then add its ranks or divisions.
  4. Admin → Roles & Permissions: what each role can do. Members get roles from Discord or by hand.
  5. Admin → Discord Bot: connect the bot so roles and nicknames sync.
  6. Admin → New Member Setup: what happens when someone is whitelisted.
  7. Admin → FiveM Integration: connect your game server (below).

Give members a service and starting rank in Admin → Users or Service Command → Members.

Connecting and updating the game server

Admin → FiveM Integration walks you through it: create an API key, download the Matrix_FMS resource (already pointed at your FMS), add it to your server and put the key in server.cfg.

Keep the game resource up to date. When an FMS update needs a newer resource, Admin and FiveM Integration show a warning and you get a notification. Download the new Matrix_FMS.zip, replace the Matrix_FMS folder in your server's resources (your server.cfg stays as it is) and restart the resource. The in-game tablet, panic alarm and street locations need the latest version.

Whitelisting and staff

  • Staff → Whitelist is where new members' applications wait. Approving gives them their mail address and starting setup.
  • Staff → Members is for looking someone up, adding staff notes and seeing their history.
  • Punishments, Ban Appeals and Name Requests are in the Staff menu too.

Backups, audit and updates

  • Backups run every night. The owner can download one any time.
  • Audit Trail records every important change and who made it.
  • Licence & Updates shows when a new version of the FMS is out.
  • Error Reports collect problems from the FMS and the game server. Mention them when you contact support.
